NEPAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

The Nepal Olympic Committee is the Continuation of the same NOC formed in 1962 under the patronage of His Late Royal Highness Prince Basundhara Bir Bikram Shah.

In accordance to the Olympic Charter, National Olympic Committee had to register five National Associations to be a member of International Olympic Committee(IOC). Out of the five, three must be Olympic disciplines. Therefore Nepal Olympic Committee registered Nepal Amateur Athletics Association (NAAA), All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Nepal Boxing Association, Nepal Badminton Association and All Nepal Table Tennis Association. Those days Badminton and Table Tennis were non-Olympic Sports. In 1963 Nepal Olympic Committee was affiliated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and joined in the Olympic Movement.
The first ad hoc Committee of the Nepal Olympic Committee was chaired by Late Prince
Basundhara Bir Bikram Shah.

In 1998 the first time in the history of NOC Nepal, democratic election was held in the presence of Education Minister and International Observers (Raja Randhir Singh, Secretary General of OCA & Mr. Latif Butt, and Secretary General of Pakistan OlympicCommittee). Late Mr. Rukma Shamsher Rana and Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan were elected President and Secretary General of NOC Nepal respectively.

Then afterwards in every four years the Elective General Assembly of Nepal Olympic Committee would be held in order to elect the new Executive Board of the Nepal Olympic Committee. Current President and Secretary General of NOC are Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha & Mr.
Nilendra Raj Shrestha. They have been duly elected on Elective General Assembly of
NOC Nepal held on September 6, 2019.
27 National Sports Associations are the members associations of Nepal Olympic
Committee. In which 24 are the Olympic Sports Association and 3 are Non-Olympic sports association.
