Press Release for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 Fun Run

PRESS RELEASE

Greetings and warm welcome to all members of the media.

We are pleased to announce the 'Asian Games Run for Fun' almost seven months ahead of the 19th Asian Games set to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

The 'Asian Games Run for Fun' to be organized as part of a program of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), is being held by Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) at Patan Durbar Square on February 17 (tomorrow).

We would like to remind you that NOC has already organized such events in the past with the view to raise awareness of Asian Games among public and sports fraternity in the country.

The Asian Games, originally scheduled for 2022 was postponed by a year due to COVID-19 pandemic that rocked the whole world for the past couple of years.

The Run for Fun will start at 7:00 from Patan Durbar Square and finish at the same point going through Ga Bahal, Pulchowk, Krishna Galli, Patan Dhoka, Ashok Halla and Bhimsen Temple. Apart from the Run for Fun, there will also be various cultural shows during the event. We hope that the Run for Fun will be helpful in raising awareness about Asian Games among the sports fraternity and public.

Besides Nepal, most of the Asian countries participating in the Games will also organize programs like Run for Fun. Most of the South Asian countries have already conducted such programs.

The Run for Fun will see participation of officials from Nepal Olympic Committee, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council and players, coaches and officials of the games who are set to represent Nepal in the Asian sports festival.

We are expecting participation of more than 600 individuals that also include school students, journalists and members of the sports fraternity. The Run for Fun will also be participated by representatives of Hangzhou Asian Games organizing committee, China's ambassador to Nepal His Excellency Mr Chen Song among others.

NOC is very much optimistic of the grand success of the Fun for Run program.
