Nepal concluded its campaign at the 6th Asian Beach Games 2026 in Sanya, Hainan Province of China with a bronze medal in women’s beach kabaddi.

Nepal participated in two sports — women’s beach kabaddi and beach wrestling. The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) had bid farewell to the national delegation before the Games. Nepal’s wrestling team featured Suresh Chunara (80kg), Triloki Prasad Yadav (over 90kg), and Sushila Chand (70kg).
Nepal’s women’s kabaddi team impressed throughout the group stage, remaining unbeaten. Nepal started its campaign with a historic 48–32 victory over Chinese Taipei, marking the country’s first-ever win against the higher-ranked side.
Nepal continued its strong run by defeating Thailand 49–33 to secure a semifinal berth. The rain-delayed match against Bangladesh was later completed, where Nepal registered a thrilling 38–36 win to finish as Group B winners.
In the semifinal, Nepal faced Sri Lanka but suffered a 46–23 defeat, settling for the bronze medal. In the final, India defeated Sri Lanka 47–31 to claim the gold medal.

Nepal captain Manmati Bista expressed happiness at returning home with a medal, calling it another proud achievement for Nepal after previous success in the Asian Games.
In beach wrestling, Nepal’s campaign ended in the knockout stage. Sushila Chand lost both her bouts against India’s Jaspreet Kaur, while Triloki Prasad Yadav suffered defeats against opponents from Mongolia, Pakistan, and Bahrain. Suresh Chunara managed a win during the competition but could not progress further.

The Games featured 14 sports and 62 events with participation from more than 1,800 athletes representing 45 nations.
Host nation China topped the medal standings with 24 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals. Thailand finished second, while Iran secured third place.
The next edition of the Asian Beach Games in 2028 will be hosted by the Philippines. During the closing ceremony, Olympic Council of Asia President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani handed over the OCA flag to Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino.
