An agreement was signed between the Nepal Olympic Committee and the Lumbini Sports Council for the organization of the International Lumbini Peace Marathon this year under the 'International Day of Sports for Development and Peace 2023'.
The agreement was signed by President of NOC Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Member Secretary of the Provincial Sports Council Mr. Jaiprakash Bhattarai. The event is planned to be held annually on April 6 in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, and will include an International Lumbini Peace Marathon.
The Province Sports Council has agreed to provide 20 Lakh rupees for the program, and both sides will make efforts to secure more sponsors.
The United Nations has designated April 6 as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
In the program EB Members of NOC were also present.
