Review of ongoing preparations for the second phase of the IOC–WHO “Sports and Health” project

Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) held a follow-up meeting today to review ongoing preparations for the second phase of the IOC–WHO “Sports and Health” project, which is scheduled to officially begin on 26 November 2025.

Representing the NOC were Vice President Mr. Chaturananda Rajvaidya and Secretary Mr. Ramesh Shiwakoti. The meeting brought together key representatives from Health Concern, including Program Manager Mr. Rajendra Thapa and Admin/Finance Officer Ms. Mamata Poudel, to discuss operational plans and coordination for the project rollout.

This meeting follows the earlier session where the progress of the pilot project—jointly initiated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO)—was reviewed with officials from PATH and Health Concern.

Under this initiative, PATH has been assigned to coordinate the “Sports and Health” program with NOC, while Health Concern is responsible for implementation after being selected through a competitive bidding process. The project aims to promote health through sports in community and government schools, with a focus on districts identified by the Bagmati Province Ministry of Sports and Health—Chitwan, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, and Nuwakot.
